SRINAGAR: The Lady Tata Memorial Trust (LTMT) is now accepting applications for the Young Researcher Award. With a primary focus on recognising and rewarding exceptional individuals in the field of biological sciences, the LTMT seeks those with a dedicated commitment to finding innovative solutions for major human diseases. The last date to apply is January 15, 2024.
The selected scientists stand to benefit from an award value of Rs 25,000 per month, along with a contingency grant of Rs 5 lakhs per annum. This is in addition to their regular salary from the host institute. Initially applicable for three years, the award may be extended for an additional two years based on a review by the Trust’s Experts’ Committee.
Eligible candidates should hold a PhD in any Biological Science or a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences, or an equivalent degree in Biotechnology-related areas. A minimum of four years’ professional experience in the specific area after obtaining the mentioned degree is required. Applicants must pursue full-time courses in a recognized University, Organization, or Institute in India.
To apply for the Lady Tata Memorial Trust Young Researcher Award 2024-25, candidates must submit their proposals through the Director of a recognized Research Institute or Laboratory where they intend to work. The application form should be sent to the Secretary at Lady Tata Memorial Trust, Bombay House, 24 Homi Mody Street, Mumbai 400 001, before the closing date of 1st December 2024.
Applicants should ensure they meet the age criteria, with an age limit below 40 years as of March 2024. The selection process involves forwarding the application form through the Director of the intended Research Institute or Laboratory, followed by an interview in March/April. Based on performance in the interview, one young researcher will be shortlisted for the prestigious award.
