The accused allegedly threatened to fail the student in her internal examination if she did not comply and offered admission assistance in a Punjab-based medical college in exchange for sexual favours. According to a police spokesman, the teacher claimed he had previously facilitated such arrangements for other girls as well.

The matter came to light after the student lodged a complaint on April 16. Following preliminary investigation, the teacher was taken into custody and a formal case was registered at the Bhaderwah Police Station, the police said.

The accused has been charged under Sections 74 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
