SRINAGAR: A technical snag in a 20MVA, 132/33KV power transformer at Grid Station Amargarh has led to a reduction in capacity from 135MVA to 120MVA, necessitating additional distress power cuts, officials said on Friday.
According to the Managing Director of JKPTCL, the reduced capacity has resulted in an 18MW load shortfall, prompting rotational distress cuts of 60 minutes on all outgoing feeders of the grid station. The affected areas include Sopore, Rafiabad, Nowpora, Sidco, Arampora, and adjoining localities.
Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to minimise the disruption. A new 80MVA power transformer, already under commissioning at Amargarh Grid Station, is expected to be operational at the earliest.
The department has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused due to the additional power cuts.
