SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness a spell of rain accompanied by gusty winds during the late afternoon and evening hours on Monday, with similar weather conditions expected over the next two days, Director of the Meteorological Department’s Srinagar centre, Mukhtar Ahmad, said.
Ahmad said heavy showers were possible at some places in the Jammu division, where rainfall activity could also trigger landslides in vulnerable areas.
Kashmir is also likely to receive brief spells of rain and thundershowers during the period, he said.
The weather is expected to improve from September 2 and remain largely stable until September 10, with no major rainfall activity forecast during the period. However, hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail across Jammu and Kashmir, while brief showers cannot be ruled out at isolated places.
Ahmad said maximum temperatures were likely to decline following the expected rainfall. Temperatures are expected to begin decreasing gradually across Jammu and Kashmir after mid-September as seasonal conditions start changing.
He said farmers could continue their agricultural and farming activities while remaining alert to short spells of rain and gusty winds over the next few days.
