At least ten people came under snow avalanche on today early morning after a wall of snow hit the vehicle in which they were travelling in near Khardongla top in Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports suggest that people around ten in number had gone to Khardongla for the collection of snow. While loading the snow from a deep gorge/Nallah, all the persons came under a snow avalanche around 7:00 AM today.

However, rescue parties that include Police, SDRF, Army and GREF have reached the spot and operation has been launched to trace the people.

Pertinently, the place is around 40 kilometers from Leh, and Khardongla is the World highest Motorable road which is 18380 feet high from sea level.
