Dharamshala officials manning Dalai Lama’s government-in-exile since 1959 when he fled Tibet had information that a boy in Leh’s remote village knows about his past life. Apart from claiming that he had a monastery in Dharamsala, the boy, then three was speaking about his students who were murdered. Later the officials claimed the boy recognized them and briefed them about his murder. Besides, once he was seen making an airplane with paper and saying he wants to go to Dharamsala. Reports claim he has marks on his chest and back. This finally led Dalai Lama to confirm him as the reincarnation of the slain monk.
Born in 1928 in eastern Tibet, Gyastso was ordained at the age of 11. He fled Tibet in 1959 after the failed uprising and founded IBD under the guidance of Dalai Lama. He was found murdered on February 4, 1997 at the Mcleodganj institute near the residence of the Dalai Lama.
Reports quoting Kelsang, the boy’s mother said she used to get good dreams while Tenzin Tseten was in her womb. Even Dalai Lama during his one of the visits to Leh had told the lady that her son is actually an incarnation. Finally the boy was enthroned on Monday at Tsuglagkhang, the main temple at McLeodgang.
Interestingly the murder mystery is still unresolved. CBI that investigated the case is on a look-out of two youth Lobsang Choedek and Tenzin Choezin, who are still at large even after 12 years of the murder. Even the Interpol has issued red corner notices for nabbing them.
Buddhists believe in rebirth Kelsang Damdul. The belief’s distinguishing characteristic is based on the theory that Buddha’s soul never vanishes, but it, in fact, reincarnates in succession to lead his followers and accomplish his mission.
