SRINAGAR

With elections drawing close and certain political parties having geared up their public campaign, the formation of the third front in the state has also gained momentum for last some days.

Highly reliable sources told a local news agency, KNS that various political leaders are joining hands to come up with a third political force which they say would be an alternative to the National conference, PDP and the congress.

Sources also told KNS that many influential leaders from the two main regional parties are also in touch and might possibly join the front. If sources are to believed Former Minster and Chairman Peoples democratic front (PDF) Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Former MP Abdul Rashid Kabuli, State President Samajwadi Party Sheikh Abdul Rehman  have been holding rounds of meetings during last few days whereas many other leaders are also according to sources  being lined up for the meetings.

Sources disclosed that apart from present political and security situation, many important issues surfaced during the meetings between these leaders.

Interestingly Agriculture Minister who was considered to be the part of trio was conspicuous by his absence in the meetings. If sources are to be believed that leaders during the meetings felt that there was a dire need to have a credible, forceful and a democratic alternative which will not be only versatile in its composition but will have a unique political and socio-economic agenda. The development is viewed as important given the present political situation in the state.
