SRINAGAR: While Srinagar city is bustling with routine life, especially the flea Sunday market, certain town are on strike, reports reaching here suggest.

Reports said Shopian and Pulwama are on strike to mourn the killing of two militants and a civilian. The three including LeT militants Waseem Shah and Basir Mir were killed in a swift encounter at Litter in Pulwama this weekend. A civilian Gulzar Ahmad Mir was also killed in the situation created around the encounter spot. A house belonging to a former militant where the militants were holed up was also destroyed in the encounter.

Commercial institutions and public transport is off the roads, reports said. Educational institutions were already closed because of the weekly off.

Though various civilians were also injured in the encounter related protests, one of them is stated to be critical. Post-operation, he is under observation and is still not out of danger.

Reports from Uri said that the people in Uri, Lagama and Boniyar belts also stopped working on Sunday. They closed their shops and paralyzed life against the alleged incidents of braid chopping in the border belt.
