The funeral prayers for six slain militants killed during encounters in Budgam and Shopian districts were offered at different places in south Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Reports said that mourners in thousands assembled at various places in twin districts to offer the funeral prayers for the slain militants.

In Chitragam, Naazneen Pora, Draggad and Shirmal villages of the Shopian district, the funeral prayers were offered to three slain militants including Amir Suhail Bhat, a resident of Chitragam Shopian, Shoiab, a resident of Sherimal village of Shopian,  Shamsul-Haq, a resident Draggad, and Syed Rubaaan, a resident of Nazneenpora in Shopian district.

An eyewitness said that some armed militants appeared at the funeral of slain militant Syed Rubaan and offered a gun salute to his associate.

Sources said that an IPS officer Inam-ul-Haq also participated in funeral prayers of his slain militant brother Shamsul-Haq.

Similarly, in Lassipora and Nowpora Payeen villages of Pulwama district, mourners took part in the last rites of  Sabzar Ahmed, a resident of Lassipora Pulwama, and Towseef Ahmed Itoo, from Nowpora Payeen Pulwama.

Local sources said that mourners in thousands from various areas had assembled in both the districts to take part in the prayers.

On January, 22, three militants Shamsul-Haq, a resident Draggad, Amir Suhail Bhat, a resident of Shopian, Shoiab, a resident of Sherimal Shopian, were killed during an encounter with mixed contingents of forces in Heff village of Shopian.

Earlier, three militants identified as Syed Rubaan, a resident of Shopian, Sabzar Ahmed, a resident of Lassiora Pulwama, Towseef Ahmed Itoo, from Nowpora Payeen Pulwama were killed during an encounter with government forces in Haptnar village of Charar-e-Sharief area of Budgam district on January, 21, 01 2019. The trio was affiliated with Al-Badr outfit of militants.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in twin districts of south Kashmir. Earlier eyewitnesses said that all the shops and other business establishments are closed in the area and traffic is off the roads.
