Thousands of people including women on Thursday evening attended the funeral prayers of slain Scholar turned militant Manan Bashir Wani of Tekipora village of Lolab in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
Manan was killed on today early morning along with his associate, Ashiq Hussian Zargar of Langate in Shatgund village of Handwara.
Wani was killed along with an associate Ashiq Hussain Zargar in a gunfight with the government forces in Shatgund village of the district earlier today.
A witness told Kashmir Life over the phone from Lolab that a large number of mourners participated in the first round of funeral prayers of Wani.
Soon after the body reached his home, people in thousands from the area were present who raised Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans, he said.
Meanwhile, several media persons alleged that the army and Police did not allow them to visit the village of the slain commander.
