Thousands participated in the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of slain militants in Yemrach Yaripora, a remote village of  Kulgam district before which  Hurriyat(G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani addressed them telephonically from Delhi.

Mudisir Ahmad Sheikh @ Mawyia resident of Yamrach and Tamim, a Pakistani militant were killed a day before in a gun battle in the outskirts of Kulgam town. An SOG personnel also was killed in the encounter which took place Monday evening.

Early Tuesday, the bodies were brought to Yemrach, the home village of Mudasir, amidst complete shutdown in the area, where thousands of people received them with anti India and pro-freedom slogans.

“Our youth are rendering great sacrifices in the way of freedom movement, it is obligatory upon us to safeguard these sacrifices by exhibiting steadfastness,” Geelani said to the people from Delhi before they offered Nimaz-e-Jinaza of the slain militants.

Kulgam police along with 9RR and 18 CRPF had launched a joint operation at Dodhipora, Kulgam in the jurisdiction of police station Kulgam on Monday. The operational parties pursued the militants and killed both of them in the open paddy fields between Dodhipora and Kanipora, the spokesperson said.

The slain militants were later identified as District commander of LeT outfit Mudisir Ahmad Sheikh @ Mawyia resident of Yamrach and Tamim, a Pakistani resident.

“A policeman Head Constable Niyaz Ahmad also was killed in the encounter”, the spokesperson said.
