Thousands participate in funeral prayers of slain Pulwama militant

The funeral prayers of the slain Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen militant was offered at his native village Koil in Pulwama, and mourners in thousands participated in the last rites on Friday afternoon.

A Hizb militant identified as identified as Ishfaq Yousuf Wani, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, a resident of Koil village of Pulwama was killed in a brief shootout by government forces at Rinzipora area of the district.

Reports said that people from various districts of the south Kashmir including elderly persons arrived in the village and participated in funeral prayers of the slain militant. An eyewitness said that as the body of the slain was lifted for burial amid pro-freedom slogans poignant scenes were witnessed from the spot.

In response to the killing, the Pulwama district is observing a complete shutdown and internet services has also been suspended in the area.
