SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three persons for allegedly hoisting flags of Pakistan in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that on a credible input, Bandipora Police have arrested three militant associates linked to proscribed outfit LeT.

He said that incriminating materials including a hand grenade, flag making equipments etc have been recovered from their possession.

“Bandipora Police received information that some anti-national elements at the behest of local active militants of LeT have hoisted Pakistani flags at Main Bazar Hajin in order to create fear psychosis and incite anti-national feelings among the common people of Hajin area,” said the spokesman.

“Accordingly, case FIR No. 35/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Hajin and investigation was taken up,” he said.

“During the course of the investigation, officers learnt about the involvement of three individuals involved in the commission of a crime. They have been arrested and identified as Mujeeb Shamas, Tanveer Ahmad Mir and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh all residents of Mir Mohalla Hajin,” he added.

“Incriminating material including 01 Hand Grenade, Flags, Flag making cloth, sewing machine and other material used for preparing flags were recovered from them. Further investigation of the case is going on,” said the spokesman.
