Three Drug Peddlers, Including Woman Arrested in Kashmir, Contraband Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam districts and recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics from their possession.

According to a police spokesperson, a checkpoint established by a team from Police Post Mirgund at Check Raza Khan led to the interception of an Alto vehicle (JK01V-3940) carrying two individuals. The suspects, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Ahad Shah, a resident of Lolab Kupwara currently residing at Rambailgarh, and Khushboo Jan, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Parray of Rambailgarh, were found in possession of 1,146 grams of charas powder.

Both individuals were arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the transportation of the drugs was seized.

In a separate incident in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police personnel from Police Station Qazigund set up a checkpoint at Levdoora crossing on the National Highway and intercepted a truck (JK02BK-8707) driven by Sardar Chand, son of Deena Nath, a resident of Samba Manan, Jammu. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a quantity of poppy straw-like contraband, following which the driver was arrested and the vehicle impounded.

Cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing.
