The three militants killed in an encounter with forces late Monday evening in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been identified, police said on Tuesday.

A news gathering agency quoting Jaish-e-Muhammad spokesperson said that the slain militants belonged to Jaish-e-Muhammad militant outfit and were identified as Muhammad Bhai, a Divisional Commander and a resident of Pakistan; Talha Rasheed, nephew of Masood Azhar and Waseem Ahmad a resident of Drubgam Pulwama.

The photograph of Waseem carrying M16 Carbine had gone viral on facebook a few days ago.

To mention, a gunfight erupted in Aglar village of Pulwama on late Monday evening after forces led by J&K police and army cordoned the village. As the forces were lying siege, militants fired upon them ensuing a gunfight. Police said they had credible inputs about the presence of militants in the village.

An army personnel Lance Naik Vikram Paul Singh was also killed during the gunfight while a civilian has suffered bullet injury.

While the encounter was raging, local youth assembled and pelted stones on the forces personnel. They retaliated andfired tear smoke shells to disperse the stone pelting youth.

Police said that the civilian who was injured received bullet during cross firing.
