SRINAGAR: Three landmines were detected and safely defused at two forward villages near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said.
Two rusted landmines were spotted by an Army patrol at Phagwara Gali in the Mendhar sector, following which a bomb disposal squad was called in, they said.
The squad safely neutralised the mines without causing any damage, officials said.
In a separate incident, an anti-personnel mine was detected by an Army patrol at Qasba village in Haveli tehsil. The bomb disposal squad was subsequently deployed and safely defused the mine, they said.
The latest recoveries came a day after the Army’s bomb disposal squad destroyed three landmines detected at Dharana Basoni, a forward village in the Mendhar sector.
Officials said the mines recovered in the latest incidents were old and rusted.
