SRINAGAR

J&K Police have arrested three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) from the heart of the Srinagar city during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

Reliable sources informed CNS that three OGWs from North Kashmir were on way towards undisclosed location when a police party stopped them near Foot Bridge opposite Lal Mandi Srinagar. They were bundled in an armoured police vehicle and taken to an unknown destination.

Though a police official confirmed the arrest of trio, however, he didn’t reveal their identity. The official, however, claimed that the trio are active militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

He added that one of them was involved in providing two grenades to a Pakistan administered Kashmir under trial prisoner Waheed Noor Khan at court complex in June last year.

Pertinently, last year a Pakistan administered Kashmir under trial prisoner and a cop was killed after a blast inside a police vehicle near Hygam Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district took place when the vehicle was on way to Central Jail from Sopore Court.

Reliable sources from Defence headquarters identified the trio as Ubaid Untoo son of Tariq Ahmed of Kralteng Sopore, Muhammad Yawar Bhat son of Muzaffar Ahmed, a resident of Batapora Sopore and Altaf Hussin Lone son of Abdul Hamid of Kalaroos Kupwara.

“A Chinese pistol, six live rounds, two magazines, a GPS and four hand grenades have been recovered from their possession,” sources added.
