Three Long-Time Absconders Nabbed in Central, South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir police have arrested three long-time absconders in separate operations conducted in Srinagar and Shopian districts of Kashmir valley, officials said on Wednesday.

In Srinagar, two accused — identified as Waseem Bhat, son of Abdul Majeed Bhat, a resident of Al-Farooq Colony presently living in Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, and Ab Rashid Sheikh, son of Ab Ahad Sheikh of Athwajan, Panthachowk were apprehended following specific intelligence inputs. Police said Bhat had been evading arrest since 2013, while Sheikh had been on the run since 2021.

Both individuals were taken into custody after verification and produced before the concerned court in Srinagar following completion of legal formalities.

In a separate operation in Shopian, police arrested an absconder identified as Ab Hamid Sheikh, son of Gh Mohd Sheikh, a resident of Peerpora, who had been evading arrest for the past ten years. He was wanted in Case FIR No. 81/2015 under Section 307 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). A warrant under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) had been issued against him by the court. After his arrest, he too was produced before the competent court.

The Jammu  Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that no person evading justice remains beyond its reach.
