SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, in coordination with the Drug Control Department, sealed three medical stores in the Aishmuqam area on Tuesday after discrepancies were detected in mandatory records and stock registers.
The action was taken during an inspection of medical establishments under the jurisdiction of Police Station Aishmuqam as part of an ongoing drive against the illegal sale, misuse and diversion of medicines.
Officials said irregularities were found in record maintenance at three outlets operating in Arigohal, identified as Ibaad Medicate Chemists and Druggists, Bilal Raina Medicate, and Ganie Medical Store.
Following the violations, all three establishments were sealed on the spot by the competent authorities under relevant legal provisions, pending further inquiry and proceedings.
Police said the drive against unlawful stocking and sale of pharmaceutical and controlled substances will continue in coordination with allied departments to safeguard public health and curb substance abuse.
