Three militants were killed and two army soldiers were injured in a gunfight at Laroo area of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Sunday morning.
A senior police official said that the operation concluded resulting into the killing of three militants. Among the slain, two are Pakistanis and one local, he said. He, however, said that the identity of the slain is being ascertained.
Two soldiers also received injuries in the operation, he said. He said that earlier the cordon-and-search operation was launched in the village following specific information about the presence of some militants.
At least ten persons are said to have suffered injuries during the clashes in forces action near the gunfight site.
Earlier in wee hours, the encounter broke out after a joint team of army’s 9RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Laroo village. (GNS)
