SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police on Friday said it traced and recovered three minor girls from Amritsar in Punjab within 72 hours of their disappearance following a coordinated operation with the Punjab Police.

According to police, the recovery was made in connection with FIR No. 63/2026 registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh.

Police said that immediately after receiving the complaint, an investigation was launched and officers developed crucial leads regarding the whereabouts of the missing girls. A dedicated police team was subsequently dispatched to Punjab, where, with the assistance of the Punjab Police, all three girls were traced and recovered safely from Amritsar within 72 hours.

The girls are being brought back to Srinagar, where the required legal formalities will be completed. Police said further investigation into the case is underway in accordance with the law.

Srinagar Police thanked the Punjab Police for its timely cooperation and support during the operation, saying the coordinated efforts of both forces ensured the safe recovery of the minors.

Reiterating its commitment to the safety of children and the public, the police appealed to citizens to immediately report cases of missing persons or any suspicious activity to the nearest police station to enable prompt action.
