SRINAGAR: Parts of Jammu and Kashmir may experience thundershowers during the next six hours, with north Kashmir expected to have the highest chances, according to a weather update issued at 3 pm on Wednesday.
The forecast also indicates the possibility of hailstorms, gusty winds and intense showers in some areas during the period.
The latest India Meteorological Department bulletin, however, does not list a weather warning for Jammu and Kashmir for September 23. It has forecast thunderstorm and lightning activity for the Union Territory on September 28 and 29.
The short-term forecast comes amid generally dry conditions expected across Jammu and Kashmir, with the Meteorological Department having earlier indicated the possibility of brief rain or light snowfall over higher reaches around September 24 and again towards the evening of September 27 and 28.
Residents in areas experiencing thunderstorms are advised to remain alert to sudden changes in weather, particularly gusty winds, hail and intense showers.
