As government impasse hovers over the state, Peoples Democratic Party Wednesday said that the party will review how much “it has achieved vis-à-vis fulfilling development vision” of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
“Mufti Sahab had a vision for making Jammu and Kashmir a modern state. Due to his death, his vision is yet to be realised. The party under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti will need to review how much we have succeeded to fulfil Mufti Sahab’s vision so far,” PDP senior leader and former education minister, Naeem Akhtar told Shaherbeen in an interview last evening.
Akhtar said that so far the party has not held any meeting neither has any party leader met the leadership.
“No formal meeting has been held yet under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti,” he said.
Akhtar said that being a political issue, Mufti had envisioned to make the Jammu and Kashmir “paradise of peace”.
“The party will assess whether our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who has a mass mandate of the country, has taken any decisions on it,” he said.
He said that keeping in view the changing situation, the party will analyse whether its ministers can fulfil “governance agenda smoothly”.
“Our governance agenda were making smart cities, bring back power projects, and other development projects. We will analyse whether we can work smoothly on the governance agenda,” he said.
Asked whether the party has taken any decision to enter into a new alliance with BJP, he said “PDP had not formed the government with BJP for power”.
“PDP’s main aim is not power. We always wanted to represent people of Jammu and Kashmir to fulfil their rights and expectations which they have due to the country. Today, our party has the same stand for the people,” he added. (KNS)
