In an initiative to check the violation of Tourist Trade Act (TTA) in Kashmir, the tourist department Kashmir has started a special drive against the violators. In this connection a team of tourism officials along with enforcement wing Wednesday visited various places in and around Dal lake and collected Rs 6500 fine from violators.

A team headed by Assistant Director Tourism Tariq Hussain Naik visited various houseboats in Dal Lake to check the necessary facilities available for the tourists. Besides the team collected fine from various jewelry sellers who were selling fake jewelry at the cost of original one to the tourists.

“We are going to continue this drive to check the menace,” said Tariq and added “We have got many complaints from various corners that tourists are not getting the appropriate facilities what they are charged for.”

The tourism department has also warned all the Shikara Walas to ensure the dustbins and safety tubes in all Shikaras other they would be fined for any kind of violation.
