Noted trade union leader and social activist, Muntazir Mohuidin Sunday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The party president Mehbooba Mufti welcomed Mohi-ud-Din into the party fold along with his hundreds of workers during an impressive gathering at her Gupkar residence.

Speaking on the occasion Mehbooba said that change in the political and governance system is a must to see the people of Jammu and Kashmir out of prevailing distress and hard times they have battled over the last five years and the PDP has evolved as a best alternate before them to rewrite a new history for the state.

Mehbooba said, “It is an encouraging trend that people from different walks of life are joining the party in good numbers, which is the clear, loud indication of acceptability of the party’s vision, for the political resolution and good governance, among the people.”

Taking dig at the coalition government, she said, “it is now talking of commitments and instead of giving an account of its performance for six years, it is making fresh promises.”

“The government is making fresh promises to the people besides knowing that it has not been able deliver on a single promise made to the people in 2008,” she said.
