According to an order issued by the Director General of Police (DGP) on January 21, following officials have been attached,  “SSP Traffic Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, DYSP Traffc NHW Banihal Nihar Ranjan and DYSP Traffic Kulgam Safdar Hamid Hasan Samoon are hereby attached with the office of DIG SKR Anantnag with immediate effect, to face a departmental enquiry into the matter.”

The action action comes  in response to the reports of traffic mismanagement on the highway, “which has resulted in great inconvenience, particularly on Banihal-Qazigund stretch on 20th and 21st January, which speaks of the casual attitude of the officers towards their given assignment.”

The order further reads that “this warrants strict departmental action.”
