A special drive to ensure safety of people during the New Year celebrations has been launched by Traffic Police Rural Jammu.
A police spokesman said that a special squad has been constituted for NHW under the charge of Inspector (DTI) Traffic along with their staff on rotational basis for late hours, which is being supervised by Dy SP Traffic concerned.
“All challaning officers have been deployed along with Breath Analyzers, florescent jackets and Signal Torch for this purpose during the late hours on roads especially on NHW/Main Towns for checking driving under the influence of Alcohol and over-speeding,: he said and added that “other drives are also being launched against other visible offences like overloading, without crash helmet, non-wearing of seat belt, use of mobile phone.”
