The authorities Wednesday said that traffic will ply from Jammu to Srinagar tomorrow. The Inspector General of Police Traffic Muneer Ahmad Khan said that traffic on Jammu-Srinagar Highway plies smoothly on Wednesday and around 3500 vehicles crossed the Jawhar tunnel by evening.
Khan said, “As per schedule the traffic plies smoothly from Srinagar to Jammu on Wednesday and around 3500 vehicles crossed the Jawhar Tunnel by Wednesday evening.”
He further said that due to fresh snowfall in the areas of Banihal and Jawhar Tunnel it was stopped on Tuesday but after the clearance of snow the traffic was allowed from Srinagar to Jammu.
From last couple of days the plains of Kashmir witness moderate snowfall, whereas in the higher reaches of Kashmir the snowfall was reported heavy.
The IGP added that though the traffic will ply from Jammu to Srinagartomorrow but the passengers must confirm the status of the highway from the TC unit Jammu before leaving their station.
He also said that Passengers traveling from Jammu to Srinagar should reach Nagroota by 12 pm.
