Train service resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended for a day due to municipal polls in parts of Kashmir valley.

The Joint resistance leadership had called for a complete shutdown on the first of the four-phased Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections on Monday.

“We have resumed all train runs in the Kashmir valley after a fresh advisory was received from police last night,” a senior railway official told Kashmir Life.

“We are acting on the advice of police as safety and security of passengers,” he added.

He said trains will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will run on Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, he said, adding that in fact, all morning trains on these routes are running as per schedule.
