Train service was resumed in the Kashmir valley on Tuesday after remaining suspended on Monday for security reasons.

The train service was suspended following the shutdown call by joint resistance leadership against the civilian killings in the valley.

We have resumed the train service on all routes in the Kashmir valley today, a senior railway official said.

He said train will chug as per schedule on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will also run on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north, he said.

This was the eighth time in June train service was suspended in the valley fully or partially for security reasons.

Last month train service was suspended 14 times in the valley and in last year train service was suspended for over 50 times in the valley for security reasons.
