Train service on the Srinagar-Banihal track continued to remain suspended on second consecutive day on Sunday for “security reasons” while trains will chug to northern parts of Kashmir as per schedule.
The service was suspended yesterday following the killing of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Bilal Ahmad in a brief shootout with forces in Achabal area of Islamabad district on Saturday midnight.
However, trains were chugging in north Kashmir as usual.
An official said the decision to suspend train services on Srinagar-Banihal track has been taken for the security of passengers and railway property following an advisory from state administration and police.
The killing of Bilal had triggered massive protests in Yaripora area of the Kulgam district yesterday.
