Train service resumed on Thursday after remaining suspended for security reasons in south Kashmir, where people were protesting, demanding handing over the two of five bodies of militants killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector on May 25.

The bodies were exhumed at Tanghdar and later buried in their respective native villages in south Kashmir on Wednesday.

All trains were running as per schedule on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir normally, a senior railway official said.

“All trains will be running on Srinagar-Banihal track via Pulwama, Islamabad and Qazigund in south Kashmir were suspended on Tuesday following protests by locals at Awantipora railway station,” he said.

This was the third time train service was suspended in the Kashmir valley partially or fully this month.

In last month, train services were suspended for 14 times in Kashmir valley partially and fully for security reasons.
