Srinagar

The train service has been suspended in the Kashmir valley for security reasons following the shutdown call by separatists against the killing of a civilian and militants in south Kashmir.

All trains between Srinagar and Banihal in Jammu region via South Kashmir and Srinagar Baramulla in the north remained suspended for security reasons, an official said.

He said the service will be resumed only after they get a fresh advisory from the authorities.

The decision to suspend the train service was taken on the advice of local authorities and police in view of apprehension of violence.  Pertinently, a complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir today against the killing of a civilian and five militants in Chowgam area of Kulgam district. The shutdown call was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the killings.
