In view of the strike call by Joint Resistance Leadership against the civilian killings and murder of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari, the authorities have the suspended train services across Kashmir.

“We have again suspended train service in the Kashmir valley following a fresh directive from police,” a senior railway official told Kashmir Life.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north.

Similarly, all trains will remain suspended on Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir with Banihal in Jammu, he added.

This is the sixth time in June train service has been suspended in the valley fully or partially for security reasons.

Last month train service was suspended 14 times in the valley and in last year train service was suspended for over 50 times in the valley for security reasons.

Pertinent to mention, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir.
