SRINAGAR: Gun shots reverberate again at the encounter site in Tral village where two militants and a police man have already died, officials said. The gun battle that started on Saturday afternoon in Hafoo Nazneenpora village was declared over Sunday morning.

However, some gunshots were heard from the spot, PCR Awantipora confirmed to Kashmir Life. The source of firing was not immediately known.

Earlier during wreath laying of slain cop, DG Police SP  Vaid said that they have killed two militants in the encounter. He identified one of them as Auqib Molvi, who was a Hizb ul Mujahideen recruit. He said his accomplice, who was also killed, was a foreigner. He did not offer his identity. However, civilian sources suggest that he was known as Hamad. His residence was not immediately known.

A police source said one cop identified as Manzoor Ahmad was injured. Though the injury is minor, it was not immediately known how he was injured. The injured cop is from a Shopian village.

A battery of reporters and news photographers who are on the spot said the encounter is not being declared over. Earlier in the day, the army blasted an abandoned IED. “We were later told that there is one militant still alive who needs to be neutralized,” one senior photo journalist said. “We are hearing gun-shots almost once after every 20 minutes but it seemingly is not a fire exchange.”

The journalist said that one body has been recovered so far. There are agitated people trying to get closer to the site but they are not being permitted which has turned the situation slightly tense.

The militants, it may be recalled here, were holed up in a local carpenters house. It went up in flame last night. But now, searches are going on.
