The family of South Kashmir’s Gadpora Tral town as well as Sarpanch and Panch claimed that Gadpora encounter was fake as there were no militants present in the house.

According to local news agency CNS. the family members alleged that hundreds of bullets were showered on their house and they were so terrified that for a moment they felt that all the four female members of the house would get killed.

The Sarpanch and Panch of Gadpora Tral also termed the encounter as ‘fake’ and demanded thorough investigation into the incident.

“The matter needs to be thoroughly probed as head of the house Shamima Banoo clams that there was no male member present in the house,” Sarpanch Gadpora Abdul Rehman Mir told reporters.

Terming the allegations leveled by family members baseless, a top police official said that one of the family members herself confessed before police that three militants were present in the house who managed to escape during the exchange of fire. “We had inputs that militants were hiding in the house as we cordoned off the area, they flee from the house,” police official said.

An Army officer who was part of the operation told reporters that they exercised maximum restraint and did not strike, as there were only female members present in the house.
