After the reports that the chief engineer Public Health Engineering (PHE) was abused by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Minister Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, CE PHE confirmed that he resigned from the post- accusing that APD minister used such ‘derogatory’ language that was incorrigible.

Talking to KNS, CE PHE stated that in the office chamber of PHE minister Sham Lal Sharma, a meeting of the PHE senior officials took place at 12 noon on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the PHE Minister, Commissioner Secretary PHE and CAPD minister Choudhary Ramzan who was participating in the meeting as MLA from North Kashmir.

CE Muzaffar Lankar stated further that as the meet started, Choudhary raised the issue of transfers of some engineers from PHE Handwara. “When I refused, asking him for a reason. He turned turbulent and the verbal dual erupted. He started throwing abuses at me and used such language that could be even explained. I left the meeting in a mid way and reached office after half an hour,” Lanker said.

Meanwhile sources said that when the chief engineer reached his office, there were tears in his eyes and he was about to cry. Reports maintained that he entered in his office chamber in perturbed state.

Later he wrote the resignation letter and handed that over to his personal assistant. He asked the government to arrange an alternative at his place and addressed the letter to the chief minister, PHE minister and commissioner secretary.

Later when the news spread in the PHE office, the employees including the daily wagers held protest demonstrations and took out a protest march towards TRC. The protesting employees were raising slogans against the CAPD minister and demanded his resignation. The PHE employees union said later that the employees will observe strike on August 8 and will held protests against the CAPD minister.
