Speaking via video conferencing, LG Sinha highlighted the abolishment of the discriminatory system prevailing for nearly seven decades and the successful implementation of inclusive policies that have positively impacted millions of lives.

“The transformation of J&K UT in less than four years has been phenomenal. We have decimated discriminatory systems prevalent for almost seven-decades and implemented inclusive policies that fostered development and touched the lives of millions. People have freedom to live their life as they desire, rather than dictated by others,” Sinha said, emphasizing the significance of the reforms.

He also emphasised the newfound freedom of expression and thought among the common citizens, stating, “For the first time after independence, the common citizen of J&K can think freely and express their feelings without any fear from separatist-terrorist network. It is one of the biggest transformations the common man is witnessing under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.”

LG Sinha further outlined the rapid social change taking place in the region, manifesting in the growing aspirations of the society to excel in various fields.

“Peace is the first step in the journey of development. And, we do not believe in buying peace but in establishing peace. There is no distinction in policy and intent. Discriminatory policies imposed for 70 years are gone, and citizens are getting equal opportunities for development,” he affirmed.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted several positive indicators of progress, including the peaceful conduct of the G20 summit, the revival of Muharram processions in Kashmir after 34 years, the reopening of cinemas, and an unprecedented influx of tourists visiting J&K UT.

The roundtable discussion also witnessed praise from various dignitaries, including Ram Madhav, President India Foundation; B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog; Alok Bansal, Director, India Foundation; and Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd), who lauded the steps and initiatives taken by the UT administration for the equal and inclusive development of J&K.
