Residents of Ahanger Mohalla, Gund Hassi Bhat, Parimpora allege that they have been deprived of electricity for more than two months now.

“We have not seen electricity for two months now. It was only on Sunday, a day before the blast occurred that our distribution transformer was installed after a gap of one and a half dark month,” said Abdul Rahman, a resident.

The residents allege that the concerned officials of Power Development Department (PDD) provided no assistance despite continuous pleads.

“We got our transformer repaired on our own. We collected Rs 4000 for the same. It is not only this time that we got it repaired but whenever it got damaged in past, we repaired at our own”, said Mohammed Ramzan, another resident.

He added, from past three years they must have spent a Rs 40,000 on its repair. But the authorities said it was they who repaired and installed the transformer.

“When we installed the transformer there within 4 hours it got damaged again, it speaks volumes about the over loading, the residents go for. Many residents of this Mohalla have installed 5KVAs of small transformers against the agreement of only half a KVA,” said Sajad Haider, Assistant Executive Engineer of Sub Division Narbal.

“But we are just taking it to our workshop in Budgam and it will be repaired as soon as possible,” engineer added.

The locals alleged that their concerned MLA never paid any attention to our demands. Though, they added, he had allotted some electric poles for up gradation but still nothing is getting materialized.

“Till administrative orders from our higher ups are passed no up gradation will take place,” the engineer said.
