A team of officials led by RTO Kashmir, accompanied by senior officers, inspected various transport services at tourist destinations to ensure adherence to approved fare rates.

Officials said that the initiative is part of the RTO’s ongoing campaign to curb unethical practices after reports of overcharging were received.

During the inspection, RTO Kashmir interacted with several tourists and locals to gather feedback on fare discrepancies and the overall quality of transport services.

Immediate action was taken against some operators found violating fare regulations, including the imposition of fines and issuance of warnings.

“We are committed to ensuring a fair travel experience for all visitors. Operators found guilty of overcharging will face strict penalties, including suspension of permits or cancellation of licenses,” an official said.

The RTO has urged tourists to report instances of overcharging via a dedicated helpline or by emailing touristcomplaints.rto@gmail.com. These efforts are aimed at fostering a transparent and tourist-friendly environment.
