SRINAGAR: In separate incidents, troops in border Poonch district have recovered some arms and ammunition from the forests. They also have interception some people and handed tem over to the police, reports from the Pir Panchal Valley said.

Reports appearing in media have quoted SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral saying that the Rashtriya Riflea and the cops from Surankote police station have afternoon launched a joint search operation in the general area of Lassana forest. During these searches they have recovered some arms and ammunition.

The seized arms and ammunition include one unserviceable Chinese Pistol, one Pistol Magazine, one 9 mm Pistol round and 213 rounds of AK47 have been recovered. They said a case under FIR No 129/2019 under section 7/25 of Arms Act stands registered.

In a separate incident, Army and police have detained three people, who were on way to Kashmir but carried no identity cards. The trio were intercepted during routine searches at a checkpoint on Thanamandi – Surankote road. They were on way to Kashmir via Mughal Road.

The trio told the police they were from Nepal but carried no identity proofs. One of them, according to reports carried some identity proof from Qatar. They were later handed over to police for investigation. They have told police that they were labourers and were on way to Leh for work.
