A nomad was killed and another injured after a truck ran over a herd of cattle on Kashmir highway near Pantiyal on Wednesday. Four buffaloes were also killed.

A police official said that a truck ran over the herd before turning turtle near Pantiyal under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramsoo in Ramban district.

“A nomad was killed on the spot and another injured. Four buffaloes were also killed,” said the official.

The deceased was identified as Bashir Gujjar and the injured as Jaffar Ali. Both were residents of Sumbar area of Ramban district.

The injured person was shifted to Banihal hospital for treatment, he said, adding that a case has been registered in Ramsoo police station.
