SRINAGAR: Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan, US President Donald Trump said he was willing to help if needed and urged both countries to halt hostilities. “I know both well. I want to see them stop. If I can help, I will be there,” Trump said, responding to a question on the ongoing conflict.
He described the situation as “terrible” and expressed concern over the long history of violence between the two countries. “They’ve been fighting for decades, even centuries. I hope it ends very quickly,” he said.
India launched Operation Sindoor early Wednesday, targeting nine locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Punjab in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead.
According to Pakistan Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, 31 people were killed and 57 injured in the missile strikes and cross-border firing.
