Tsewang Tharchin Appointed Accountant General (Audit), Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Tsewang Tharchin has assumed charge as Accountant General (Audit) of Jammu Kashmir on November 6, 2025, succeeding KP Yadaw, who retired on October 31, 2025.

Tsewang Tharchin

An officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) 2007 batch, Tharchin hails from Ladakh and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kashmir University. He has extensive experience auditing government departments in JK, including Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Local Bodies. He previously served as Deputy Accountant General in JK in May 2010 and as Senior Deputy Accountant General in October 2016.

Tharchin has also handled compilation, preparation, and submission of state government accounts while serving as Deputy Accountant General in Punjab. From 2021 to 2024, he worked as Financial Advisor at the National Company Law Tribunal, New Delhi, and later as Principal Director in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

On the international front, Tharchin conducted a Performance Audit of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva on deputation to the United Nations. In 2020, he was part of the team auditing the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan. He has also led audits of the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, the Indian Embassies in Riyadh and Baghdad, and Air India operations in Riyadh, Dharan, and Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
