Two Appointed as Assistant Directors in Jammu Kashmir Economics and Statistics Service

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed two candidates as Assistant Directors (Economics and Statistics) in the JK Economics and Statistics (Gazetted) Service under the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.

According to Government Order No. 80-JK(PD and MD) of 2026, the appointments have been made on a temporary basis in Pay Level-8 (Rs 47,600–1,51,100) following recommendations of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.

The appointees are Kumari Kamakshi Bharti and Suneel Sharma, both selected under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category.

The order states that the appointments have been made with immediate effect. The officers will remain on probation for two years, during which they will be required to undergo prescribed training and qualify the departmental examination in accordance with the rules.

The government has directed both appointees to report to the Director General, Economics and Statistics, JK, within 21 days of the issuance of the order. Failure to join within the stipulated period will result in cancellation of the appointment without any further notice.

Before joining, the candidates must produce original documents, including educational qualification, date of birth, domicile and category certificates, along with any other documents required under the rules. They are also required to submit an affidavit affirming the authenticity of their certificates.

The order states that if any certificate is found to be fake, forged or invalid during verification, the appointment shall be deemed cancelled ab initio and legal action will be initiated in accordance with the rules.

It further states that the inter-se seniority of the appointees will be determined separately under the applicable rules and that the appointments will remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts. The Director General, Economics and Statistics, has been directed to ensure verification of all certificates submitted by the appointees.
