SRINAGAR: Authorities in Srinagar said they have sent a rescue team to help two cars that are stuck over the Sinthan Top between South Kashmir and Kishtwar.

This apple tree in a Heerpora, Shopian orchard tells the story of costs that Kashmir will pay for early snowfall. Upper reaches of Kashmir are witnessing massive snowfall starting early October 23, 2021.

The two cars had come from Chatroo area of Kishtwar when they are caught in the snow. The area is witnessing an average snowfall.

Reports said Sonamarg has recorded almost seven inches of snow so far. Upper Shopian has enough snow that requires snow clearance machines.

The snowfall has started impacting the apple trees and the crops. In certain areas, the trees have started breaking. In a few areas, reports from Shopian said, people have assembled in mosques to offer specvial pratyers and seek blessings at the peak of a weather crisis. Almost half of the apple crop is yet to be harvested.
