Two Convicted for Public Nuisance in North Kashmir, Sentenced to Community Service

   

SRINAGAR: The Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Kralpora has convicted two individuals under Section 355 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing public nuisance in Kupwara.

“The court sentenced them to community service as punishment in connection with FIR No. 09/2025 of Police Station Kralpora,” a  police spokesperson said in a statement.

The case originated when a patrolling party of Police Station Kralpora found the individuals in a drunken state at Kralpora Market, causing inconvenience to the public. The patrolling officer forwarded a report to the police station, leading to the registration of an FIR and a formal investigation.

Following the investigation, a chargesheet was submitted to the court, where the accused pleaded guilty. The court convicted them and imposed community service, emphasising the importance of public decency and responsible behaviour.

As per the court order, the punishment includes two days of cleaning a public place, one day of raising awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption, and one day of planting 20 trees on public land under the supervision of the Tehsildar. The SHO of Police Station Kralpora will oversee the execution of the sentence.
