SRINAGAR: Two police personnel were found dead on a link road near Nashri in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir late Tuesday evening, according to a report published by Daily Excelsior.
Daily Excelsior reported that the two personnel were found on the road near a private car belonging to one of them. Following the discovery, police shifted the bodies to District Hospital Ramban.
Senior police officers, including Ramban SSP Arun Gupta, reached the hospital after being informed about the incident, the newspaper reported.
According to Daily Excelsior, marks were noticed around the neck of one of the deceased. The circumstances surrounding the deaths were not immediately clear.
The newspaper further reported that one of the deceased had recently been regularised as a constable after serving as a Special Police Officer (SPO). Both personnel were residents of Ramban district.
Hospital authorities identified the deceased as Yaqoob, son of Hasaim Deen, a resident of Hakas, Jhatgalli, Tehsil Rajgarh, Ramban, and Fareed Ahmed, son of Shamas Deen, a resident of Bhatti, Ramban.
The bodies were kept in the mortuary of District Hospital Ramban, according to hospital authorities.
