SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has suspended two officials of the District Treasury Bandipora after an inspection found that a large number of bills had allegedly been retained beyond the permissible period, resulting in unauthorised delays in final payments.
According to an order issued by the Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Ahtisham Ul Haq, Accountant, and Mohammad Sofi, Accounts Assistant, were placed under suspension following an inspection of the treasury conducted on August 22.
The inspection found that several bills had not been processed for final payment and were retained in the treasury beyond the permissible limits, the order said.
The department held that the retention of the bills had caused unauthorised delays in releasing the final payments.
During their suspension, both officials will remain attached to the Office of the Director, Accounts and Treasuries, Kashmir, the order said.
They will be entitled to subsistence allowance as admissible under the applicable rules during the suspension period.
