SRINAGAR: Search operations continued for the second consecutive day on Monday to trace and retrieve the body of a nine-year-old boy who reportedly drowned in Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal district on Sunday.
The boy has been identified as Mohammed Mohsin, son of Mukthar Ahmad, a resident of Bamloora, Ganderbal.
According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the boy reportedly drowned near the Fire and Emergency Services headquarters at Fatehpora, Ganderbal.
SDRF rescue teams from the battalion headquarters in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Gund, along with local volunteers, were jointly conducting the search operation.
Authorities have advised parents and guardians to keep children away from rivers, streams, nallahs, ponds and other water bodies, particularly when water levels or flow are high.
They also urged adults not to allow children near such locations without close supervision and called on the public to observe necessary water-safety precautions to prevent such incidents.
